Changing admin_address ???
|
Posted by on Saturday October 14, 03:43AM, 2000
from the fog dept.
Got mail notification working (under NT), but I need to change who the mail is coming from (i.e., admin_address). . .
How do you get at and change the dtml variable admin_address?
In the mail_html method on my test Squishdot site, it says that the message is from "dtml-var admin_address"
When the message sends, it comes out as from "". Checking the header, I see the message did not (of course) go through yahoo.com.
Moreover, on the "options" tab where you can turn on mail notification, there are checkboxes to notify the admin of postings and/or replies. Is this the same ""? If so, then I really gotta change it. I'd like those notifications to go to ME.
As things stand, I've hard coded the message to have a different "from" address, which helps things look better. However, this is a kludge that does not help when automatically copying the "admin" with posts.
Any help would be appreciated.

Go back into the Squish admin screens and click on the "Properties" tab. Then edit the "admin_address" field and save changes.
And yes, the "notify admin" things go to whoever admin_address points to.

Hi, Regards Email Notification from Squishdot - I have not been successful, in setting up email notification on my instance of squishdot. Reading through the threads, I guessed that perhaps your case might be the closest to problems I'm facing, so replying here to check if you wouldnt mind shedding some light? I'm running a zope server/squishdot on my Windows XP machine at work. Added a MailHost object to my squish site. Set the mailserver to be our central exchange server, with smtp port set to 25 (default). I checked the permissions list, and I have the manager set to use mail host services. (I'm manager on the site) I checked the properties tab and checked that the var admin_address is set to my email address Took a peek into the mail_html method and found that the from address is set to and the To: address just said (I'm assuming that this refers to whatever email address the 'poster' specfies on the posting form) Well, with the above settings, I entered a post and specified my email address in the reply notification field. I expected that a post will result in email being sent to me but no go! I changed the variable, to , thinking that perhaps that would help, but still no luck. Since I read that you got this to work with a windows NT machine and using exchange server, i was wondering if you could help me out. Looking through the posts I was unable to find a definite solution that seemed to help. Anyone else feel free to chip in with suggestions to help get this working. Thanks very much! Sudhir |
